This projects success resulted from a strong and trusting connection between the client and its respective specialists, culminating in a highly layered, customised, uniquely beautiful space that mirrors its owners’ greatest loves - music, travel and family.

Rather than imposing a singular design gesture, the interior was carefully layered to create a series of rich, immersive experiences that respond to both the home's architectural character and the individuality of its owners.

The design process centred on collaboration with specialist makers, artists, suppliers and the clients to reimagine the original features of the home for today’s way of life - we truly couldn't source anything that was so periodically ambiguous.

Micro-moments such as the custom curtain holdback were given as much thought as the macro furniture pieces, with particular attention given to materiality, texture and craftsmanship.

Clever floor planning was required to ensure the clients functional needs were met throughout the home’s exceptionally tight footprint. Examples of this include in the music room, where an intentionally eclectic mix of multiple seating elements sit atop an irregular shaped rug, allowing the clients to switch effortlessly between playing and listening to music, conversing and dancing should the night take them there.

Conversely, the main workhorse areas of the house actually have quite a scant amount of furniture. Although the number of pieces may be few, each has been highly considered down to an incredible level of detail such as the fabric wrapped base of the living room side tables, the hand carved coffee table and the custom rug.

Across the project, multiple textiles, custom finishes and artisan-made furnishings were thoughtfully combined to create a simultaneously elevated yet effortless home that can be lived in and enjoyed, with space to layer in new art, travel finds and the occasional guitar.
